PRMO 2019

Mathematical Olympiad Programme

Conducted under the aegis of National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), the Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India is organized as a five-stage process, which further leads the Indian students in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

 

Hence, there are a total of six stages of Mathematical Olympiad viz.:-

 

  • PRMO (Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad) – 1st stage of Mathematical Olympiad
  • RMO (Regional Mathematical Olympiad) – 2nd stage of Mathematical Olympiad
  • INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) – 3rd stage of Mathematical Olympiad
  • IMOTC (International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp) – 4th stage of Mathematical Olympiad
  • PDT (Pre-departure Training Camp) – 5th stage of Mathematical Olympiad
  • IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) – 6th stage of Mathematical Olympiad

 

Under the wide spectrum of Mathematical Olympiad Program the first stage PRMO is conducted by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India), while Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) organizes the remaining four stages in India.

The PRMO Exam (Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad) – 2019

The PRMO Exam 2019 (pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad) was held on the 11th of August 2019 from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM across the various centers in India. The question paper of PRMO 2019 consisted of a total of 30 questions which needs to be answered within three hours.

 

The answer to each question of PRMO was either a single-digit number or a two-digit number and the candidates were required to mark these answers on an OMR response sheet.

 

A student mandatorily needs to get qualified through this centrally administered PRMO, if he/she wants to be eligible for selection to the next stage of the Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India. As no other examinations will be recognized that are independently administered.

Eligibility Criteria for PRMO Exam 2019:

In order to appear for the PRMO Exam 2019, all the aspirants of PRMO must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:-

 

  • Candidates of PRMO 2019 must be born on or after August 1, 2000.
  • They must be studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12.
  • The candidates applying for PRMO 2019 must be Indian citizens. Although, the candidates having OCI cards are provisionally eligible to take the PRMO Exam 2019, subjected to the conditions as determined by the following the verdict of the Madras High Court:-

The students with OCI status can’t be selected for the Indian team of the International Mathematical Olympiad. Though, they will be eligible provisionally to get selected in all prior stages till IMOTC (International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp) provided they fulfill all other criteria.

 

Note: –

  • Depending on any further orders issued by the courts or by any competent Government authority, this policy is subject to revision without prior notice.
  • All the candidates are responsible to check whether he/she satisfies the eligibility criteria for each stage of the Mathematical Olympiads. Since, at any stage of the Mathematical Olympiads, if it is found that a student does not fulfill the requisite eligibility criteria then he/she would be immediately disqualified from the program.

Official Schedule and Important Dates of PRMO Exam 2019

In order to keep tracking the events of PRMO 2019, you must keep an eye on the Official schedule and important dates of PRMO Exam 2019, mentioned below:-

  • Registration of Schools or Institute for PRMO 2019 – begins from June 1st, 2019 till the 30th of June 2019.
  • PRMO registration 2019 for students – begins from June 1st, 2019 till 7th of July 2019.
  • Availability of PRMO 2019 admit card – by the last week of July 2019
  • Exam date of PRMO 2019 –11th of August 2019
  • Declaration of PRMO 2019 result – by the third week of September 2019

Selection Process of PRMO 2019

The selection process of PRMO for the regular students of KV and JNV, vary from those students of non- KV and JNV Schools.

 

Selection parameters for students of KV and JNV school in PRMO

The participants of PRMO 2019 from the KV (Kendriya Vidyalaya) and JNV (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya) schools will be considered selected in PRMO 2019 in the following ways:-

  1. Up to 5 percent from the students who have registered in PRMO 2019 and are students of classes 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.
  2. Up to 1 percent from the students of class 12th, registered in PRMO 2019.

 

Selection parameters for non-KV and non-JNV school students in PRMO

Twenty-five regions all over the country have been designated for training and selection of students for the Olympiad contest.

From each of these regions, the students of non-KV and non-JNV schools will be selected for PRMO 2019 in the following ways:-

  1. Up to 300 students from Classes 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th that are among the top scorers of PRMO 2019, will be considered eligible to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad exam.
  2. Up to 60 students from class 12th, who are among the top scorers of PRMO 2019, will be considered selected and entitled to be eligible to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad exam (RMO).
